Essaï (pronounced S - Eye ) is a multifaceted artist. Multi platunum selling artist.
He is a songwriter, singer, keyboardist, music producer and an actor. He composed his first songs at the age of 12.
As a teenager, he honed his craft listening to and emulating Quincy Jones, Donny Hathaway, Michel Legrand and James ingram. He left his law studies at the Jean Monnet University Paris XI, in order to pursue his passion for music.
At the age of 19, Essai signed with Sony France as lead singer of the urban and pop idol group,“Ideal-3”. The Pop/urban inspired top ten hit “Pardonne-moi” was played on all major French radio stations, including NRJ and Fun Radio. The band toured all of the major venues and arenas of the time. They also appeared on numerous television shows including Jacques Martin.
At the age of 21, Essai parted ways with his band and signed a solo contract with Mercury Universal France.
His solo career had launched and he began to receive many invitations to appear on different TV shows and many invitations to write and produce for other artists.
At this time Essai was approached to contribute his inspiration and artistic sensitivity to other artists, like Jenifer for whom he composed songs for her album, that eventually received the prestigious Diamond Plaque award.
Essai then landed the role of Count Paris in Gerard Presgurvic’s musical comedy “Romeo and Juliet.” He performed and was launched into the hearts of hundreds of thousands of spectators across France, Belgium and Switzerland. The show’s album sold 2 million copies
France’s First Lady Bernadette Chirac asked him to write and produce the title “Un peu de moi”. That single went gold.
Essai then collaborated with the multi grammy awarded Michel Legrand. They co-produced 25 songs together for “Les Demoiselles de Rochefort” and had a successful run at Palais des Congres in Paris.
He then wrote “Saimer est interdit” for the famous musical comedy “Le Roi Soleil” for Warner Music France. That album went double Platinum. Over 3 million tickets were sold during the three years of its run.
He composed the soundrack for the film “Incontrolabe” starring Michael Youn.
Essai has also written and arranged musical pieces for many shows in one of the most famous and mythical Parisian Cabarets, “Bobino”. There he directed entire musical productions.
Essai has been the Musical Director for La Bataille des chorales, Le grand show des enfants, Pop’s Cool, L’Ecole des fans, which all air on the TF1 channel France.
In 2015, Essaï is chosen by the First Lady of Armenia and Arm TV Channel, to be the European representative of Armenia for the Eurovision song contest.
Then Essai decided to take a big step and cross the Atlantic to the United States where his musical influence originated. He loves the thought of collaborating with the cats from Detroit, Memphis and Los Angeles.
He put his soul into recording the new album. He is looking forward to meeting up with his new production partner, music veteran, Kerry Gordy, who promised to feed him some black eyed peas, candied yams, collard greens and fried chicken.
In 2016 – Essaï was one of the jury of the famous TV show in Armenia “Destination Eurovision”
He chose the singer Artsvik and bring her to representant Armenia to Eurovision song contest in 2017.
In 2018 Essaï released the first album of his new artist Carla Stark. He produced and composed 12 tracks of the album Karma wich is in a pop and folk univers.
In 2019 Essaï is the french music expert in the new american TV show THE WORLD'S BEST with Drew Barrymore, Faith Hill, Rupaul and hosted by James Corden.
Now Essaï is putting all his passion on its new big Musical NOÉ, " la force de vivre". A universal story connected to the protection of the environement. The first single TERRE is already released and available on every plateforms, distributed by Sony France
